March 3rd: “Patriots & Protestors from the 1700s to Today”.

March 3rd at 7:00 pm West Bethesda Folk Music Concerts and The Williams County Historical Society will be presenting Jim Hall & Cindy Morgan and their program “Patriots & Protestors from the 1700s to Today”.

This program is co-hosted by West Bethesda Folk Music Concerts and The Williams County Historical Society and will be presented at the Williams County Historical Museum, 622 East Main street (on the fairgrounds) in Montpelier, Ohio.

In the U.S., we have a long history of politically-themed music, with songs of protest and songs of patriotism both well-represented.  Exploring the journey from the birth of the United States until present day,  we’ll look at songs from both sides of the spectrum at crucial points in our nation’s history.  Many of these songs are familiar, but they become more interesting as you hear the stories of how they came to be.

You will recall that Jim Hall & Cindy Morgan performed at West Bethesda last year. Along with their playlist of traditional and contemporary music Jim & Cindy also perform several programs with a historical content. Not unusual, we’ve discovered that a number of our musician friends have special programs with a historical theme. With the content of these programs being historical it just seemed natural for us to partner with The Williams County Historical Society to present these special programs. And the Historical Society has agreed to co-host the programs at their museum. If you’ve not been to the museum you will want to spend a few minutes viewing their outstanding displays.

Jim Hall & Cindy Morgan are self-taught musicians and play a multitude of acoustic instruments, including guitar (6-string, 12-string, resonator), mandolin, clawhammer banjo, fiddle, harmonica, and concertina.  From the East Lansing area, Jim & Cindy have several CDs, together and solo.   They are also very involved in the mid-Michigan music scene, with Jim hosting a radio show, “Roots & Branches” on WLNZ radio 89.7, and Cindy on the Board of the Ten Pound Fiddle.

So please, mark your calendar for March 3rd at 7:00 pm for this very special presentation. West Bethesda Folk Music Concerts is very pleased to be co-hosting this program with The Williams County Historical Society. Please join us at the museum on the Williams County Fairgrounds in Montpelier, Ohio. It will be an entertaining and educational evening. We will be requesting a $15 donation for the performers.
